Township receives Governors Award!

An excerpt from the Townships April 19th meeting minutes:  Earlier this Spring, the Township received the 2017 Governor’s Award for Local Government Excellence in Building Community Partnerships.  The award was accepted last week when Lisa Moore, Stevens and Hoffman went to Harrisburg. The award was for the partnerships involved in the creation of Barkingfield Park. In addition to the award, the Township was also recognized by the State House and Senate by Resolution. Stevens recognized Township Manager Lisa Moore for being the guiding light for making things move along, and she had made this project possible. Lisa Moore commented that the Township has an amazing team and residents but without a Board of Supervisors who allowed the team to be forward thinking, awards like this would not be possible. Hoffman commented that she has a video that will be posted on the website that she took while with the Governor.Lisa Moore added that another important thing about the Barkingfield project was the implementation of TDR (Transfer Development Rights) which will be used for a property on North Walnut Road which will have a higher density, allowing for more affordable housing in the Township for professionals, like Police Officers and Teachers.
