Kennett Township

May 14, 2020

Dear Kennett Township Residents and Business Owners,

I hope this email finds you all well. I wanted to deviate from the normal COVID-based news to share some good things that are happening here in Kennett Township. I encourage you to engage with this information. Donate blood, learn about our trails and preserves, support the Brandywine Valley Scenic Byway, and take the survey below. Also share this with friends and neighbors who may not get our emails.

Thank you and please continue to stay safe.

Chandler Mill Bridge

Many of you have been asking about the status of the Chandler Mill Bridge. While the current pandemic did set our timeline back a little, we are happy to report that the beams were placed yesterday, May 13th! If you are in that area over the next month, expect to see continued progress. Special thanks to Lobar Construction and the Township’s Public Works team, led by Roger Lysle for their hard work on this exciting project.

The Great Outdoors

On beautiful days like today, we encourage you to get out and enjoy the great outdoors we are lucky to have literally in our backyard! Both the Township and The Land Conservancy of Southern Chester County (TLC) have been working hard to keep trails and preserves open for your enjoyment. All we ask is that you wear your mask and stay 6 feet apart. If the parking lot is full, that location is at capacity and you cannot utilize that location – a great reason to find a new trail/preserve to explore! (Due to CDC recommendations, dog parks aren’t open yet. Keep your pups leashed while they hike with you.)

Trails Survey

Speaking of trials, the Chester County Planning Commission is running a survey. Please take a few moments to document what YOUR priorities are for future, potential trails. For the English survey, click HERE. For the Spanish survey, click HERE.

Brandywine Valley Scenic Byway Commission (BVSBC)

The Brandywine Valley Scenic Byway was designated as a state byway in 2005 and consists of a 25-mile corridor that covers Southern Chester County and Delaware. The BVSBC is in the process of applying for a National Scenic Byway designation to “advance the opportunities and benefits to the Byway community.” They need support from you, the public! Click HERE to read a recent article about the Byway and please email BVSB2020@gmail.com with any questions/comments/support.

Most Importantly...

We are getting closer to the days when we can leave our homes and mingle in small groups again - but we are not there yet. As Governor Wolf has mentioned, now is not the time to let up on our efforts. They have been working. We all must continue to do our parts. Wear your mask when in public. Stay 6 feet away. And, hopefully for just for a little longer, stay calm, stay home, and stay safe.

Stay Calm, Stay Home, Stay Safe
