COVID-19 and Preparing for Yellow Phase
As you are most likely aware, we are expecting Governor Wolf to move Chester County into the Yellow Phase by this Friday, June 5th. We, however, wanted to make sure you were aware of the most current information regarding the recent upward trend in positive COVID-19 cases in Kennett Township.
According to the Chester County Health Department, Kennett Township now has 40 cases to date – that’s up 10 just from last week. We tell you this not to increase fear, but to remind you that while this township, county, state, nation and world seek and plan to move past the coronavirus, the pandemic is not over. It is still important to remember that there is an invisible virus that spreads easily.
Please use your best judgement as our stay-at-home orders come to an end. Wear your mask when in public, continue to wash/sanitize your hands, avoid touching your face, and make wise decisions about physically interacting with others. By remaining vigilant in these practices, it will help our community stay safe and hopefully we will see these numbers decrease again until they are no longer any left to report.
Historic Kennett Square Small Business Relief Fund
The Historic Kennett Square Small Business Response Fund (SBRF) will provide emergency assistance grants to consumer-facing retail small businesses in Kennett Square Borough and Kennett Township to assist with the cash-flow challenges as a result of the COVID-19 pandemic. Businesses may also use funds to make necessary, but often costly, modifications to their businesses so they can re-open safely.
Thanks to a generous matching-fund grant from Square Roots Collective, every donation to the SBRF will be doubled. 100% of every dollar contributed to the fund will be matched by Square Roots Collective up to a maximum of $250,000. This means that a maximum potential of $500,000 will be available for grants as high as $10,000 to local businesses.
Please visit www.kennettsbrf.com
to donate or to apply. Information/Applications are available in both English and Spanish. The application period is open until midnight - Friday, June 12th.
