November 11, 2020
Dear Kennett Residents and Business Owners,
On behalf of the Board of Supervisors and Township staff, thank you to all the veterans, past and present, who signed a blank check to ensure our nation's security and defend democracy. We extend our sincerest gratitude for the unquantifiable sacrifices of veterans and their support systems. Thank you for your service.
As I emailed last Friday, the Board of Supervisors will be holding a special meeting this Thursday November 12th, at 7:00p.m. via Zoom to continue the 2021 budget development process. At this meeting my team and I will be presenting a draft budget to the Board and public to facilitate a discussion about spending priorities for 2021. The Board will be considering options to raise taxes in 2021. Specifically, the Board will consider raising taxes on real estate as well as evaluating the merits of a Local Services Tax, an annual tax of $52.00 on those that work in the Township. Read ahead materials for the meeting on Thursday are available HERE. For the Zoom link and instructions on how to log on, click HERE. If you have comments or questions in advance of the meeting, or wish to submit them before the meeting, please send them to gretchen.flack@kennett.pa.us.
Lastly, please find below information from Leah Reynolds, the Executive Director of Kennett Area Community Services (KACS). KACS has provided $555,477 in emergency financial assistance to area residents since January 1, 2020 and served 16,447 individuals with food. KACS is a vital part of our community helping those with nowhere to turn. We appreciate the great work they are doing.
Thank you and stay safe.
Eden R. Ratliff
Township Manager
