Veterans Day

Veterans Day

This Thursday, November 11th is Veterans Day, a time to celebrate those who have served in our Armed Forces. While we are not a perfect nation, we know we would not be where we are, and who we are today if it were not for the sacrifices made by those who faithfully serve and defend. So from all of us at Kennett Township, THANK YOU FOR YOUR SERVICE!

(As a reminder, the Township will be closed in observance of this holiday. We look forward to serving you Friday, November 12th during normal business hours.)

KSQ Speaker Series: November 11th

‘KSQ Speaker Series: How We Build Matters’ welcomes Detroit-based architect Marques G. King

Join Kennett Collaborative as their Speaker Series continues with Marques G. King this Thursday, November 11th at 6:30pm at the Presbyterian Church of Kennett Square: 211 South Broad Street. RSVP here!

King’s presentation as part of the KSQ Speaker Series on November 11th, “Getting out of the Comfort ‘Zone’: Why Sustainable Places Need Flexible and Adaptable Zoning,” will focus on the restrictions that modern-day zoning places on cities and explore how loosening these restrictions on zoning can produce flexible and adaptable places that can potentially sustain themselves. King will also present a brief history of the origins of zoning and some of the racial implications that helped create it. The connection he wants to help make for people in our context here in Kennett is the importance of building and retaining wealth locally through land ownership.

New Regional Trails Maps

New Regional Trail Maps Available

Calling all trail enthusiasts! The Kennett Area Regional Trails Committee recently partnered with the Chester County Planning Commission and Square Roots Collective to put together new, interactive trail maps of our regional area. Find your next adventure by viewing these maps online on the Kennett Greenway website here (under Regional Collaboration).

“For the first time, these interactive maps enable local residents and visitors to see existing trail networks, report problems, and view the status of regional priority projects,” said Richard Leff, Chairman of the Kennett Township Board of Supervisors.

The maps focus on trails and sidewalks in Kennett Township, New Garden, Kennett Borough, and East Marlborough, though additional trails are featured beyond these areas.
