Chester County Prison Inmate Escape
On Tuesday September 5th, Lt. Col. George Bevins with the Pennsylvania State Police announced that the search perimeter for escaped convict Danelo Cavalcante has been expanded to include parts of northeastern Kennett Township. The Pennsylvania State Police are leading the search for Cavalcante aided by the District Attorney’s Office, the US Marshals, Federal Bureau of Investigation, US Customs and Border Protection, and local law enforcement.
The most up to date information about the search will come from the District Attorney’s Office, their social media, and the Pennsylvania State Police. Residents are encouraged to sign up for Ready Chesco Alerts which allow the County to provide you with emergency information in real time.

Residents are asked to do the following:
- Take precautions in your daily movements including locking the doors to your homes and vehicles.
- Monitor your home security systems and trail cameras and report anything suspicious to 717-562-2987
- Familiarize yourself with the photos of Cavalcante (pictures featured below) and be aware of your surroundings and be vigilant.
- The state police are not asking residents to lock down but are asking you to take precautions, such as locking doors and vehicles, and pay attention to what is going on around you and your neighbors. Lt. Col. Bivens stated, “We are looking for vigilance.”
Most importantly if you see anything suspicious, or are experiencing an emergency, please call 911.
The Township Office is CLOSED today (Tuesday, September 5, 2023) but staff is available remotely if needed. The Trails & Sidewalks Committee meeting that was scheduled for today at 1:00PM has been rescheduled to Tuesday, September 12th at 1:00PM.
