Board of Supervisors Meeting

The Kennett Township Board of Supervisors will hold a hybrid meeting on Wednesday, October 18th, 2023 at 7:00PM in the Public Meeting Room. The link can be found on the agenda which can be accessed on the website.

Yard Waste Drop Off Area

The Kennett Township Yard Waste Lot will be closed Monday, October 2nd so the accumulated pile can be ground into wood chips. We will update everyone as work progresses. It is expected to remain closed until Friday, October 27th. Thank you for your patience.

Unionville Community Fair

This Thursday marks the 99th Unionville Community Fair which will kick off for the first time ever on Thursday, October 12th at 5:00PM with a Tailgate at the Fair!  The Fair runs from Friday, October 13th through Sunday, October 15th.  Additional details can be found on their Facebook Page and website.  

October's Third Thursday on State Street

The final Third Thursday on State Street for the 2023 season will be Thursday, October 19, 2023 from 5:30PM to 9:00PM. Third Thursdays bring the community together and support restaurants and small businesses on State Street. State Street is closed from Broad to Center Streets from 5:00PM to 10:00PM every third Thursday from May to October. To ensure an outdoor table, please make a reservation. Utility Improvement: October 19-24

PennDOT announced that Kennett Square Borough will be performing utility improvements on Route 82 (South Street) in Kennett Square Borough, Chester County.

Motorists are advised of the following travel restriction:

Thursday, October 19, through Tuesday, October 24, from 9:00 AM to 3:00 PM, Route 82 (South Street) will be closed weekdays between Broad Street and Walnut Street. During the closure, motorists will be directed to use Birch Street, Broad Street, Route 82 (South Street), Taylor Street, Chestnut Street, and Hornblende Avenue.

October is National Fire Prevention Month

October is Fire Prevention Month! The goal of Fire Prevention Month (and week October 8th - 14th) is to raise fire safety awareness and help protect homes and families. In 1922, the National Fire Protection Association (NFPA) named the second week of October Fire Prevention Week in commemoration of the Great Chicago Fire in 1871. Both the Kennett Fire Company and Longwood Fire Company are holding Open Houses, check out one or both as they are on different days!

Sanderson Museum Event - November 5th

This event will feature large scale projection installations of photographs and artwork related to the life of Christian C. Sanderson. These installations are part of an on-going initiative by artists Michael Lynch and Matt Nelson entitled Projected in Place – a historical research and conceptual art project that superimposes photographs and paintings to life-scale.
