Environmental Advisory Council  

The Kennett Township Environmental Advisory Council will host a hybrid meeting on Tuesday, November 28, 2023 at 7:30PM in the Public Meeting Room.  The link can be found on the agenda once it becomes available on the website.

Administrative Offices - CLOSED 

The Kennett Township Administrative Offices will be CLOSED on Thursday, November 23rd and Friday, November 24th in observance of the Thanksgiving holiday.  We will open on Monday, November 27th at 8:00AM.  Have a safe and Happy Thanksgiving! 

Holiday Light Parade & Tree Lighting 

Enjoy floats and vehicles festooned with lights, dancers, a DJ playing holiday tunes, the traditional Christmas tree lighting, and of course, Santa and Mrs. Claus!  The Kennett Square Holiday Light Parade will be held on Saturday, November 25th from 6:00pm to 7:30pm 

The Holiday Light Parade will follow a new route this year, starting at the intersection of South Broad and West Cypress, then heading north on the 100 block of South Broad Street and traveling west along State Street to Center Street.  

Free parking available at the garage from 10 am until 11 pm, compliments of Longwood Gardens & Kennett Collaborative.

Small Business Saturday & Holiday Village Market 

Enjoy the festive season in Kennett Square starting on Saturday, November 25th with Small Business Saturday!  On December 2nd & 3rd and December 9th & 10th: shop dozens of curated artisan and vintage vendors while enjoying live music, festive cocktails, food trucks and more in the magical setting of The Creamery with the Kennett Square Holiday Village Market! 

PECO Telephone Pole Update

We received an update from PECO on the telephone pole project along Burrows Run Road, Norway Road, McComb Lane, Statler Road, Williams Lane, Milkwood Drive, Longwood Drive, Arrowwood Lane, Cedarwood Lane, Whitetail Drive, Burrows Mill Road and Orchard Drive.  Construction and pole setting will begin late November of 2023.  We do not have exact dates, but please be aware that crews may need to temporarily interrupt service to safely complete some of the work.  PECO plans to work with local residents to ensure you are informed in advance of the activities and any planned interruptions.  

 Glice Skating at The Creamery

‘Winter Park’ returns to The Creamery, December 1st, including the popular attraction: Glice Skating rink! Starting RIGHT NOW, you can visit their website and purchase tickets throughout the Winter Park season (12/1-3/3). Tickets without skates are just $10, and $15 with skate rental.  

Red Streams Blue: December 13th 

Brandywine Red Clay Alliance, along with contractor, Clauser Environmental, has completed a comprehensive assessment and restoration plan for the West Branch of Red Clay Creek from Route 1 south to the confluence with the East Branch at Marshall’s Bridge. The plan targets reductions in sediment, nitrogen and phosphorous pollution.

On Wednesday, December 13th at 7:00pm at the Kennett Public Library: learn about the watershed assessment and highlights from the restoration plan. This plan covers the West Branch Red Clay Creek in this focus area and its tributaries in New Garden, East Marlborough and Kennett Townships and Borough of Kennett Square.
