Zoning Hearing Board

NOTICE is hereby given that the Kennett Township Zoning Hearing Board will conduct a hybrid public hearing on Tuesday May 7th, 2024, at 7:00 p.m. in the Kennett Township Public Meeting Room to hear the following:

ZHB 528: THE APPLICATION OF Seth and Kalli Wheeler, for proposed improvements at property located at 624 E. Hillendale, Chadds Ford, PA 19317; being UPI No. 62-5-1.1B and zoned R-A Residential Agricultural. The Property consists of 3.708 acres and is an existing non-conforming lot with regard to minimum lot size. The Applicant proposes to construct a single-family home with related improvements, on UPI No. 62-5-1.1A (4.3 acres), also owned by the Applicant, and zoned RA – Residential Agriculture Zoning District. Access to the site is proposed to be provided via E. Hillendale Road through an existing 50’ wide common driveway easement located on UPI No. 62-5-1.1 and a proposed 30’ wide access easement located on UPI No. 62-5-1.1B. The calculations of the common driveway cannot be included to calculate the required minimum lot size; therefore the lot size would be reduced to 3.37 acres. The Applicant is requesting relief from §240-2404, in particular §240-2404.C which states that the area of a nonconforming lot shall not be reduced so that the area of the lot is less than prescribed by the Zoning Ordinance.

Any member of the public who wishes to participate virtually may do so with the link for the meeting found on the Township’s website:  www.kennett.pa.us.

Rotary Club of Kennett Square Announces Second Annual "Kennett On Top" Fundraiser

The Rotary Club of Kennett Square announces its second annual signature fundraiser, “Kennett on Top,” on Saturday, June 22. Last year, the inaugural event was a huge success held on top of the parking garage in downtown Kennett Square! Partygoers couldn’t have asked for better weather, and with the dressy casual atmosphere, great food, fabulous wine, beer, and a signature cocktail from local merchants, the party was a big hit. Patrons danced to the popular 2uesday Nite Band while soaking in the ambiance of vibrant Kennett Square. It was a party like no other in our area!

“Last year, we were especially grateful for our sponsors who helped support our event,” says Susan Minarchi, President of The Rotary Club of Kennett Square. “If it weren’t for their philanthropic outreach, we wouldn’t have had such a successful party,” says Minarchi. The club anticipates the sponsorships to increase this year since the event was such a big hit and over 200 attendees enjoyed a nice evening in Kennett Square. The party will again be epic!

All proceeds benefit the Kennett Rotary Foundation that supports nonprofit agencies in the community, such as Young Moms, Family Promise of Southern Chester County, Maternal Health Child Consortium, Kennett Area Community Service, local police and emergency personnel, and more.

“We can’t wait and look forward to welcoming even more partygoers on June 22”, says Minarchi. For sponsorship and event information, check out their website www.kennettsquarerotary.org or follow them on Facebook.

Community Warehouse Project of Chester County

Community Warehouse Project of Chester County is a local furniture bank that collects gently used furniture and housewares and then distributes these items to families, individuals, and veterans in need throughout Chester County.  Our clients are referred to us by over 90 social service agencies throughout the area.  We served 486 Chester County households last year. We believe that providing important furniture helps to transform an empty house into a home creating a stable environment for families and individuals to thrive.

This is a way to recycle perfectly usable items instead of going to the landfill. By recycling unwanted furniture items to needy families and veterans, we estimate that we are saving 250 Tons of furniture from landfills each year.

Our warehouse is located at 800 E. Virginia Avenue, Building 3, West Chester, PA 19380 near Henderson High School.  Donations must be pre-approved by sending photos to donations@communitywarehouseproject.com or to our phone at 484-473-4360.   We are open for donation drop offs Monday through Friday from 9 to 1pm and every third Saturday of each month from 9 to 1pm.  Other drop off dates are available by appointment.  We also have a Drop Off Day at our Downingtown warehouse the first Sunday of each month 10 to 2 pm.
