E-News Edition - Week of September 23, 2024

Fall brings cooler weather, back to school, and Township Budget season. Presentations on the 2025 Budget began last week at the September 18th Board of Supervisors Meeting with a presentation on the draft 2025 Capital Budget. Watch the video of the meeting, including the presentation, here. Mark your calendars and set a reminder for the next presentation on Wednesday, October 2nd on the Operating Budget.

Kennett Township Environmental Advisory Council Meeting

A Message from the Environmental Advisory Council

Invasive plants are non-native plants that can spread rapidly by several means including seed, vegetative growth, and underground roots. They outcompete native plants by taking over available space, absorbing sunlight or shading, using nutrients efficiently, and sometimes changing the soil chemistry. Although they may provide nectar and/or food for insects and birds, they do not support the total life cycle and relationships of insects and birds that are important for a healthy ecology.  To read more about invasive plants such as Canada Thistle, Click Here.

Recycling

Recycling Reminder

The Recycling Drop Off Center is for residents of Kennett Township ONLY.  Proof of residency may be required.  The Recycling Drop Off Center on Bayard Road takes plastic containers No's 1, 2, 4, 5 and 7. All recycling is now commingled or "Single Stream," which means that all recycling, with the exception of shredded paper, can be collected in a single collection box. Aluminum, Metal Food Containers, Glass, Plastic Bottles, and Paper Products can be recycled at the Kennett Township Recycling Center.

Location: The Kennett Township Recycling Center is located at the Township Maintenance Garage, 557 Bayard Road, between Rosedale and Hillendale Roads.

Hours: The recycling and yard waste center is open dawn to dusk Monday through Saturday and Sunday from 10 a.m. to dusk.

PECO Reliability & Resiliency Plan 

PECO will be upgrading and installing new equipment to enhance the local electric distribution system in Kennett & East Marlborough Township.  Constructions is expected to start in early October along W. Johnathan Court, E. Johnathan Court, East Thomas Court, West Thomas Court, South Orchard Avenue and Orchard Avenue.  Work will occur from 7 a.m. to 5 p.m., Monday through Friday.  There will be approximately 2950 feet of underground cable and conduit will be replaced.  The letter and map can be viewed on the Township website by clicking Here.
