The 2025 budget has been advertised and you can find that HERE. The Board of Supervisors will vote on the 2025 budget at their December 4, 2024 meeting.

The Kennett Township Administrative office is collecting non-perishables for KACS through the month of December! Bins will be located in the lobby. We are trying to fill a KTPD Cruiser!

Kennett Township Board of Supervisors Meeting & 2025 Budget

The Kennett Township Board of Supervisors will hold a hybrid meeting on Wednesday, December 4th at 7:00pm in the Public Meeting Room. Topics include the adoption of the 2025 budgets, awarding the bid to replace the Force Main and a new appointment to the Brandywine Valley Scenic Byway Commission. Click Here to access the agenda. The advertised budget includes a real estate tax increase of 1/10th of a mill, which is a 2.86% increase and less than the rate of inflation. It also includes an increase in the sewer usage rates for those on volume-based billing. The minimum of $75/quarter for the first 5,000 gallons is not changing, but each additional thousand gallons will increase from $16 to $17.

The advertised budget was reviewed at the November 6, 2024 Board of Supervisors Meeting. You can watch the recorded meeting HERE. The 11/6/24 presentation on the budget begins approximately 4 minutes into the video.

The 2025 proposed budget was also presented at three other Board of Supervisors meetings: September 18th (Capital Projects & Priorities), October 2nd (Operating Budget), and October 16th (Operating & Capital).

Kennett Township Trails & Sidewalks Committee Meeting

Kennett Township Historical Commission Meeting-CANCELLED

The Kennett Township Historical Commission meeting that was scheduled for Thursday, December 5, 2024 has been cancelled. Monthly meetings will resume in January 2025.

Kennett Township Planning Commission Membership

The Kennett Township Board of Supervisors is currently seeking applicants who are interested in serving on the Planning Commission. The Township intends to hold interviews with interested volunteers with a panel. Anyone interested is asked to fill out a Volunteer Form which can be accessed here and send a resume and a letter of intent to kennett.twp@kennett.pa.us.

Chester County Burn Ban & Drought Watch

The Chester County Commissioners declared a 30-day ban on open burning for all residents and businesses in Chester County, which took effect on Sunday, October 27, 2024. The burn ban has been extended until Thursday December 26th, 2024. Additional details can be found here.

Pennsylvania’s Drought Task Force has announced that, as of November 1st, Chester County is under a Drought Watch. For more details on the drought declaration, visit PADEP’s Drought Information page.

Recycling Reminder

The Recycling Drop Off Center is for residents of Kennett Township ONLY. Proof of residency may be required.

With the holidays upon, household waste increases about 25% this time of year. Click Here to check out some ideas on how you can "Watch Your Waste- Holiday Edition".

Location: The Kennett Township Recycling Center is located at the Township Maintenance Garage, 557 Bayard Road, between Rosedale and Hillendale Roads.

Hours: The recycling and yard waste center is open dawn to dusk Monday through Saturday and Sunday from 10 a.m. to dusk.

Calling all High School Juniors & Seniors: Scholarship Application

Four $1,500 scholarships are available to high school juniors and seniors: two Local Government Achievement scholarships and two Academic Achievement scholarships. The deadline to apply is January 31, 2025. Additional information can be found on the PSATS website.
