Friends of the Kennett Township Police

Friends of Kennett Township Police, Inc. and KTPD K-9 Unit

At the June 4th Board of Supervisors meeting, Police Chief Gordon presented on the benefits of a K-9 unit and the new 501(c)3 nonprofit, “Friends of Kennett Township Police, Inc.” A K-9 Unit is cost effective, deters criminal activity, enhances drug detection, improves response times, aides in search and rescue operations, and enhances community relations. You can view the slides from the presentation here or watch the June 4th Board of Supervisors Meeting here.

Kennett Township Police Department is uniquely situated to start a K-9 unit because Officer Brian Bolt has been a K-9 handler since 2010 and a certified K-9 Trainer since 2018. A K-9 unit for Kennett Township Police Department would consist of one officer and one dog; no additional hires would be required.

Friends of Kennett Township Police, Inc., an independent 501c3 nonprofit, was established to help defray K-9 expenses, in addition to supporting other policing operations and purchases, through community-based funding. This ensures that the implementation of the K-9 unit will have minimal impact on to the Police/Township budget.

Friends of Kennett Township Police is initiating a campaign to support the K-9 unit! Questions about Friends of Kennett Township Police can be directed to FriendsofKTPD@gmail.com.   Click here to Donate!
