Fire Safety

CHARGE INTO FIRE SAFETY

This year's Fire Prevention Week campaign stressed how important it is to BUY, CHARGE, and RECYCLE safely when it comes to lithium-ion batteries.

Charge into Fire Safety: 3 Easy Steps
Keep your home and devices safe with these quick tips:

  1. Buy Smart – Choose products with a safety certification mark (UL, ETL, or CSA) to ensure they meet safety standards.

  2. Charge Safely – Use only the charger that came with your device, follow manufacturer instructions, and charge on a hard surface. Unplug once it’s fully charged—don’t overdo it!

  3. Recycle Right – Never toss lithium-ion batteries in the trash or curbside bin—they can start fires. Recycle them safely at a certified drop-off site. Find one near you at call2recycle.org.

Stay powered up—and fire safe!

Blue Envelope Program

BLUE ENVELOPE PROGRAM: PROMOTING UNDERSTANDING AND SAFETY

The Kennett Township Police Department is proud to participate in the Blue Envelope Program, an initiative designed to help individuals on the autism spectrum have safer and more comfortable interactions with law enforcement. Drivers who participate in the program can keep their license, registration, and insurance card in a blue envelope, which discreetly alerts officers that the driver may have difficulty communicating or responding under stress. This simple tool fosters awareness, patience, and mutual understanding, helping to ensure that every traffic stop is handled with care and compassion.

Blue envelopes are available free of charge at the Kennett Township Police Department. To schedule a time to pick an envelope up, please contact ktpd@kennett.pa.us or call 610-388-2874.
