Soliciting in the Township
Dear Residents,
I am writing to inform you of some recent changes to our Solicitation Ordinance.
By Law, Kennett Township must allow Solicitation in the Township. Recently, our Ordinance was challenged and we had to make changes to allow soliciting Monday-Saturday 9am until 30 minutes after sunset. As in the past, solicitors must be registered with the Township and have a clean background check which entitles them to a 30 day permit. Active solicitors are listed on police department’s page of the Townships website.
During this process, we learned that the Township can offer residents the option of signing up on a “Do Not Solicit” list which is handed out to permit holders. Solicitors are forbidden to solicit any address on this list.
You can sign up for the no solicitation list by CLICKING HERE!
Please allow thirty days for your address to become active on the list.
It is important to note that Non Profit groups, Religious organizations and Political affiliates are EXEMPT from the solicitation rules. These groups are freely open to solicit anywhere in the Township.
Along with the list, residents who wish to not be solicited towards are encouraged to place “No Solicitation signs” at the entrance of their property and on their doors.
If you decide to be added to the list or not, if you ever have problems with solicitors, please gather as much information you can from/about the solicitor and contact the Police Department by calling 911 to report Solicitors in violation of the solicitation ordinance.
If you have any questions, please feel free to contact me, lisa.moore@kennett.pa.us
