Everyone is encouraged to attend

June 25th at 5 p.m. – Town Tour and Village Walks – The walk will set off from the Longwood Progressive Meeting and feature a visit to the cemetery across the street.  Many abolitionist families lie in the cemetery as well as Civil War veterans.  Guides will highlight the notable people buried there.  The Progressive Meeting broke from the traditional Quakers in the area 1853 as “an open door to all who recognize the Equal Brotherhood of the Human Family.”

The Kennett Township Historical Commission has been presented with an achievement award by the Chester County Historical Preservation Network for its efforts in completing the 2011 Historical Resource Atlas Project. KTHC member David Shepherd was Project Director.

Hamorton Historic District

Secured the listing of the Hamorton Historic District in the National Register of Historic Places.

The Kennett Township Historical Commission and Chair Sara Meadows facilitated new PennDOT signs for Hamorton Historic District , summer 2012, along Rts. 1 and 52. The widening of these routes provided the opportunity to replace the deteriorating original signs. Click on Photos by Phil Fling:

A survey of historic sites and buildings in the township was completed in 2009, in an effort to identify and protect locations of historic significance.

The 2014 Historic Program will be on May 15th at 7:00 p.m. and the topic is Fabulous Fungi.  Here is the 2014 program flyer:
