KENNETT TOWNSHIP ENVIRONMENTAL ADVISORY COUNCIL

Kennett Township’s Environmental Advisory Council recently participated in Stroud Water Research Center’s Baseflow Salt Snapshot! The “Salt Snapshot” was a community event where volunteers sampled stream water to assess salt pollution in local streams and rivers. The snapshot helps residents see where road salt is getting into our streams. By measuring salt and conductivity, we can spot patterns, find problem areas, and take steps to keep our water clean. Stroud is hosting a “Snapshot Wrap Up” to discuss the results from the survey on November 19th from 6-7:30pm. Follow the link if you’re interested in attending!

Chester County Emergency Services

The Chester County Department of Emergency Services (CCDES) is simplifying the way that Chester County residents and visitors can voluntarily share emergency information with CCDES in the event of an emergency - using existing smartphone features. Commonly, these apps are the default Health app for Apple phones and the Personal Safety app for some Android phones. On Samsung devices, this information can be added in settings, under Safety and emergency.

By using an iPhone’s Medical ID feature in the Health App, an Android phone's Personal Safety app, a Samsung phone's Safety and Emergency settings, or an Emergency Profile through www.emergencyprofile.org linked to any mobile phone number, relevant emergency information can be shared with first responders through the RapidSOS platform used by the Chester County ECC. RapidSOS is used by over 5,700 9-1-1 centers across the United States and allows this information to be seamlessly integrated into the call-taking process by 9-1-1 staff.

More information can be found on the Chester County Department of Emergency Services website at www.chesco.org/des.
