Municipal Feasibility Study

What is a Feasibility Study? General Definition:

An in-depth review that helps a township or municipality decide whether a proposed project or initiative is practical and worthwhile. It looks at factors such as costs, funding options, community needs, potential benefits, and possible challenges. Although the study provides important facts and analysis while identifying and evaluating alternatives, it typically does not include direct resident feedback. Instead, it serves as a tool for local officials and the community to use when considering whether to move forward with the project.

What was this Feasibility Study reviewing?

The Request for Proposals (RFP) for this Architectural / Engineering Feasibility / Master Plan Study requested consideration of three different planning scenarios:

  1. Expand the existing building to meet current needs
  2. Construct a new supplemental building on the existing site
  3. Construct a new supplemental building on a suitable new property

The Feasibility Study Process

Kennett Township contracted with GKO Architects in September 2024. GKO conducted a space needs assessment, reviewed the existing Township Building, and provided multiple options.

Final Report

GKO Architects completed their Final Report on the Feasibility Study for the Expansion of the Municipal Facility for Administration and Police in July 2025. It was presented at the next Board of Supervisors meeting on August 6, 2025.
